The Abia State Police Command said on Monday that ten Police officers have been arrested for various offenses of professional misconduct bothering on extortion and corruption which is against the zero tolerance stance for corruption of the Police High Command.
Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Leye Oyebade who made the disclosure, also warned that any policeman found extorting motorists and engaging in violence against innocent citizens risks the punishment of dismissal, no matter his rank.
Already, Oyebade said the 10 policemen from various divisional police stations in the state are facing orderly room trial for offenses of indiscipline and corruption pointing out that they would be shown the way out of the Force if found guilty.

He emphasized that the Police administration in the country has zero tolerance for corruption, and urged residents to obey laws and stop giving bribe to policemen.
Continuing CP Oyebade said the Police have tackled heinous crimes such as kidnapping, child trafficking, cultism and armed robbery to a standstill and would not relent in maintaining law and order in the state.
He enjoined keke Napep operators in the state to comply with the order of the state government directing them to stop operations by 7pm.
He warned that the Police would continue to arrest any operator who flouts the order.
His words, “We have arrested several policemen over extortion. Those arrested are already undergoing orderly room trial. If they are found guilty, they will face the music”.
“Any policeman found extorting motorists will face dismissal, no matter his rank.
“We have also improved our relationship with the public. The public should stop giving bribe to the Police.”
