Puff Adder: FCT Police arrest 7 suspects for one-chance and ATM robberies

Sequel to the implementation of Operation Puff Adder, the FCT Police Command has busted a notorious armed robbery gang who specialize in robbing petrol stations and people at ATM galleries.

Giving details of how the ATM members of the ATM robbers were arrested, the FCT command said, “On 11th April, 2019 at about 10.50pm, our men on stop and search by Turkish International School along IBB way, Maitama intercepted a Honda Accord End of Discussion (EOD), light green colour with registration number EV 261 ABJ with three (3) occupants.

They are, Sunday Christopher age 35yrs, Jibrin Umar age 25yrs and Gaddafi Haruna.

“Our men asked for identification. Sunday Christopher then identified himself as a military man. Not satisfied with his explanation, they were, asked to come down from the vehicle for a proper search.

A bag containing an AK 47 riffle with 40 rounds of live ammunition was discovered and in the process the third suspects Gaddafi took to his heels.

Upon interrogation the gang confessed to robberies at filling stations and ATM galleries within the FCT.

According to them, they will approach a fuel attendant at filling station and ask for a full tank refill. Immediately after taking the fuel, they point a gun at the attendant and collect the day sales and zoom off.

At ATM galleries they pin down and watch customers withdrawing, after which they will follow the customers with large withdrawals and dispossess them of same.

when asked about the vehicle the gang is using, they confessed to it being robbed at command junction Kaduna after shooting the occupant.

Investigation is still ongoing in an effort to arrest the fleeing gang member.

On the arrest of 4 one- chance gang members, the Police command said, “On 19th April, 2019 at about 9.30am, one Mr Samuel blocked a Nissan Sunny vehicle behind Area 1 plaza with 4 occupants, a Police team around the area was alerted and rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival the Police team were informed of the incident that took place in Area 3 where a young woman who boarded a vehicle from Wuse was disposed of her properties and pushed out of the vehicle by the suspects.

The suspects are Rose Ogah age 40yrs (female), Vicent Uche age 23yrs, Dickson Ati age 46yrs and Daniel Ndijiaku age 54yrs

They are all residents of Ungwan Cement, Karimo. They were then taken to Garki Division whereupon interrogation, they confessed to being a syndicate of 419’s who pick unsuspected members of the public in the name of commercial transport and end up robbing them of their hard earn belongings.

The suspects will soon be charge to court.
