Raid on Ekweremadu’s House in Abuja: Police Arrest Fake Whistle Blower.

The Police at Force Headquarters has arrested one Ahmed Echobo and declared wanted, one Maiwada Adamu for blowing a false whistle about stockpiling of sophisticated arms and ammunition at a house at No. 10 Ganges Street, Maitama, which later turned out to be the guest house of Deputy Senator President, Ike Ekweremadu.
The said Ahmed Echobo was arraigned at the Upper Area Court at Gudu and charged for criminal conspiracy and for giving false information to mislead  a public servant contrary to section 97 (1) and section 140 of the penal code, laws of the federation.
Police sources disclosed that on Friday, 26th May 2017, the duo of Echobo aged 50 years who resides at No 44 Livine-Truth Street, Masaka, Nasarawa State, and Adamu now at large, conspired among themselves and informed the office of the Inspector General of Police Special Tactical Squad, that a house No 10 Ganges Street, Maitama, FCT, occupied by Oliver Ogenyi is being maintained and used for criminal activities including keeping arms and ammunition.
Unfortunately, after the police carried out diligence execution of the search warrant, no incriminating item or items were found.
Therefore the said Echobo was charged for misleading the Police based on heresy.
The court later adjourned the case of Monday 5th of June 2017 while ordering that Echobo be remanded at Keffi prison till that date.
Recall that the Police earlier denied invading the home of the Deputy Senate President last Friday following a state by Senator Ike Ekweremadu’s media aide that officers of the IGP’s Special Squad raided his home in Maitama.
It has now emerged that the false information and the fact that the name of alleged owners of the house which did not indicate the Deputy Senate President, led to the raid.
