The National Defence College (NDC), Abuja, now has a new Commandant. He is Rear Admiral Adeniyi Adejimi Osinowo.
Osinowo took over from Rear Admiral Samuel Alade on Friday following the retirement Alade’s retirement from the Nigerian Navy after 35 years of service.
Rea Admiral Osinowo, who is a regular combatant officer and member of the Nigerian Naval College (NNC) Course 1, was commissioned Sub Lieutenant on March 1, 1984.
He has attended various courses including the Specialist Communication Course, Principal Warfare Course, Port Management Course and the National Defence College with Distinction (+) Daga.

Among positions held in the Navy, he as one time Deputy Commander Africa Partnership Station onboard the United States warship, USS Gunston Hall and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by former American President Barack Obama in 2011.
He is also the recipient of the Grand Service Star (GSS) medal, which is awarded to senior military officers with 30 years unbroken record of service.
A profound scholar, Osinowo holds a 1st Class Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), MSc, MIAD, MNSE and a PhD in International Relations from the Commonwealth University among others.
Until his appointment as the 16th Commandant of NDC, he was one time Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Lagos and the immediate past Chief of Training and Operations (CTOPS) Naval Headquarters, Abuja.
