RevolutionNow Protest: Police, NSCDC personnel contain activists; As Military Stay Clear.

Following the protect actions of #RevolutionNow activisits in Lagos and Abuja, investigations have shown that the activities of the group were adequately contained by the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Recall that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, apart from warning Nigerians to ignore the call by the group for the protest declared that the action of inciting people for regime change through undemocratic means will be viewed as treasonable felony.

He consequently directed the Zonal AIGs and Command Police Commissioners to handle any attempt to cause public disorder under the cover of the protests by checkmating such protests.

It was gathered from newsmen on the spot of several of the protests, that the Police and other Paramilitary agencies did all they could to ensure law and order were maintained using minimum force.

Investigations further showed that contrary to some insinuations, no personnel of the Nigerian Army was involved in any of the protests locations in Lagos and Abuja where some protest took place.

It was further gathered that the attempt by some online media to drag the military into the protests was a ploy to generate more sympathy for the group and hoodwink members of the public against the military.

At the Unity Fountain in Abuja, Police officers made of of Counter terrorism unit, MOPOL and regular officers supported by Armoured Personnel carriers and crowd fighting water vehicles took over the venue thereby preventing the protesters the opportunity to assemble.

Consequently, they took their grievances to the headquarters of the National Human Rights Commission in Maitama where they submitted their petition.

There was no sign of any military personnel during the sequencies of the protest.

It was also gathered that in Lagos, the Police and NSCDC personnel stormed the National stadium, in Surulere, with a directive to stops the #RevolutionNow protest.

Officers from the Nigerian Police force adequately acquitted themselves leading to a point when the Police had to release tear gas cannisters to checkmate some protesters.

No involvement of the Nigerian military was recorded, something many of the protesters told newsmen was unusual.
