Sallah: Ogun Police Assure Residents of Adequate Security; Katsina Police Arrest Drug Trafficker and Recover Large Quantity of Codeine

In view of the forthcoming Ei-dil Filtri celebration, the Ogun State Police Command wish to assure residents of the state that the command has put in place a robust security arrangement in order to ensure hitch free Sallah celebration. 

In view of this, large scale and elaborate tactical as well as covert Policemen have been strategically deployed by the Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu across the length and breadth of the State with a clear mandate of ensuring crime free Sallah celebration.

Men of Special units such as FSARS, PMF, Tactical Response and Intelligence units and Anti-Kidnapping/ Cultism sections have also been deployed to nip in the bud any violent crime that may want to rear its ugly head. 24hrs surveillance has also been ordered around the various praying grounds as well as event/recreation centers across the State.

The Commissioner of Police CP Ahmed Iliyasu while felicitating with Muslim faithfuls and the good people of Ogun state enjoined them to reflect on the reasons for the Sallah celebration and be good ambassadors of Islam by ensuring peace at all times.

He also appealed to members of the public to alert the Police whenever/wherever they noticed any strange/suspicious faces, gathering or movement in their domain in order to assist the security agencies to perform their duties to the optimal level, as security is everybody’s business.

 Meanwhile, the Katsina State Police Command said on Wednesday that on Tuesday 12th June 2018 at about 9pm, it succeeded in arresting a notorious suspect who specializes in drug trafficking.

It said Police patrol team attached to CP’s Surveillance Squad, Katsina while on routine patrol along Senator Abba Ali Road by Mohd Dikko Stadium, Katsina intercepted a motor vehicle Honda Civic, dark in colour, covered with tinted glasses, with registration AQ 475 DKA loaded with 300 bottles of cough syrup suspected to be codeine, driven by one Nura Aliyu ‘m’ of Tsohuwar Tasha, Katsina. 

Suspects confessed to have been in the business of drug trafficking distributing to other members of his drug syndicate and consumers alike.

Suspect will be arraigned in court immediately investigation is completed.
