President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has expressed grief over the death of a foremost legal luminary and former President of the Nigeria Bar Association, (NBA), Chief Idowu Sofola SAN at the age of 84.
Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, described Sofola as a counsel of counsel who bestrode the nation’s legal space for almost six decades like a colossus.

He said that the accomplished jurist and Chairman, Body of Benchers made his mark in the legal profession at both the national and international arena with distinction.
“A shinning legal star has dimmed. We shall all miss him,” Saraki said. “He lived a highly successful life and his works will continue to speak for him.”
He commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, NBA, Yoruba Council of Elders (YCE), the Government and people of Ogun State over the sad and irreparable loss.
He prayed Allah to grant the deceased Aljannah Firdaus and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
