The Police in Ogun State have confirmed the death of a man, Adeola Oyekan, allegedly brutalized by soldiers of 174 Battalion in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun Command, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, assured the deceased’s family that all the perpetrators would be brought to book.
“The deceased’s landlady had invited the military after a misunderstanding over two-month rent arrears the victim owed.
On arriving at the house, the soldiers manhandled and brutalized the deceased, landing him in the Pillars Hospital, Ogijo.” an eye witness to the incident said on Twitter.

Oyeyemi said, “The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the landlady and the son should be arrested.
“Through that, the son will be able to identify the soldiers.”
Oyekan’s case is coming two weeks after some soldiers of the 174 Battalion allegedly brutalized a woman, Ruth Orji.
Orji’s case has been taken to court.
The Orji’s incident which occurred on 12 March, according to the Division’s spokesperson, Lt.-Col. Olaolu Daudu, happened in Odoguyan, Ikorodu area of Lagos.
It involved soldiers of 174 Battalion and the woman attacked has been identified in various reports as Ruth Orji.
