Strategic Patnership: NDA & POLAC Synergize to Enhance National Security through Collaborative Training, Academics

In a bid to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and enhance national security, the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) delegation, led by Commandant Major General John Ochai, paid a landmark visit to the Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, Kano State, on Friday, May 31, 2024.
The visit is aimed at establishing key training benchmarks and explore collaborative areas between the two esteemed institutions, recognizing the increasing role of the military in internal security, traditionally the domain of the police.
The delegation included top officials from NDA comprising the Deputy Commandant and Benchmarking Officer, among others.

Major General Ochai emphasized the shared interests between NDA and POLAC, despite their differing mandates, and highlighted the success of Exercise CAMP KURA, which involves internal security training supported by the NPF and other security agencies.

He envisioned joint participation of NDA and POLAC Cadets in such exercises to enhance synergy and relationship-building among future leaders of both the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) and Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The Commandant proposed cooperation through linkages and collaboration, joint seminars, exchange programmes, and sporting and social activities.
In his remarks,the Commandant POLAC, AIG Abubakar Sadiq expressed gratitude for the visit, the first since POLAC’s establishment in March 1998, and acknowledged NDA’s support in establishing POLAC’s Engineering Department.
He called for further collaboration in equitation, postgraduate school establishment, and cadet training, and recommended appointing desk officers in both institutions to facilitate benchmarking efforts.
The visit concluded with a tour of POLAC’s facilities and an exchange of souvenirs, marking a significant step towards fostering a lasting relationship between the AFN and NPF
