Study Tour: General Buratai Hosts Air Force War College Participants

Former Chief of Army Staff and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd.), on Thursday, 8 August 2024,  hosted participants from the Nigerian Air Force War College at the Tukur and Tukur Farms in Keffi, Nasarawa State. 

The visit was part of the college’s study tour.
General Buratai, who holds the traditional title of the Betara of Biu and Garkuwan Keffi, shared his insights on post service agricultural endeavour, leadership, highlighting the importance of foresight, endurance, and focus in achieving visionary objectives. .
As Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tukur Buratai Research Centre, he encouraged participants to cultivate passion and a strong will to achieve their dreams.
In his remarks, Air Vice Marshal AG Kehinde, Commandant of the Airforce War College, hailed General Buratai’s leadership virtues, noting that he is an accomplished leader and statesman who has achieved great heights.
The participants were given a comprehensive tour of the farm’s various components, including its renowned snake farm, which boasts of an extensive collection of species.
They also saw the farm’s agricultural activities, producing crops such as Green House vegetables, poultry, as well as its animal husbandry operations, raising livestock such as cattle, goats, and sheep.
Wing Commander AO Idoko, a participant, praised General Buratai’s visionary leadership, saying, “What I have seen here so far is a pure demonstration of visionary leadership, foresight, and planning.
“It only takes deliberate planning to achieve something like this. I am inspired to emulate General Buratai’s personality because he has built a reputable career in the Nigerian Army and is now actively involved in national development.”
Lieutenant Colonel Alliana Ayisi, an allied participant from Cameroon, noted that the visit was inspiring, saying, “It is really insightful for me because it has inspired me to see what can be achieved even before retirement – a vision to make our dreams a reality.”
Engr Hamisu Tukur Buratai, Managing Director of the Farms, provided a detailed brief on the farm’s activities, highlighting its commitment to innovative farming practices and national development.
The visit served as an educational programme for the participants, showcasing the potential of agriculture and entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
