Taraba Police Arrest Murderers’ of Hon. Hosea Ibi; Kill 3 Kidnappers in Gun Duel; Smash Gangs of Kidnappers, Rapists, Cow Thieves.

The Taraba State Policed Command, on Friday announced the arrest of the kidnappers and murderers of Hon. Hosea Ibi, the member representing Takum constituency in the Taraba House of Assembly after months of painstaking and discreet investigation.

Also the Police Command under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP David Akinremi disclosed the successful smashing of several kidapping gangs, arrest of rapist, cow thieves while three kidnappers who dare to engage police in a gun duel, met their waterloo.

A statement by the Police Command said, “We have called you to parade 3 suspects, Muwagha Iorabagha, Aondouwga Hundi, James Gun, all resident at Chekwaza village in Katsina Ala LGA of Benue State who are abductors. They abducted Hon. Hosea Ibi on 31st December 2017, leading to his gruesome murder.

Recall that the Command under the leadership of CP. David A. Akinremi vowed not to relent on its oars until   the perpetrators of that dastardly act are fished out and brought to justice.

“Based on that promise, the detectives of the Command acting on reliable intelligence arrested the above suspects at various locations in the State.

“One of the suspects Mwagha Iorbagha revealed that on the said date they conspired with Aondofa (gang leader) still at large, Tukura (at large) and went to the house of the victim, kidnapped him and conveyed him on a motorcycle riding by one Aondoungwa Hindi and took him to the house of Tukura the gang member.

“Investigation further revealed that Aondouwga Hindi participated actively by driving the motorcycle conveying him to Tukura’s house.

“It is important to also know that one of the suspects, James Gun who resides in Jalingo, was contacted by Andofa, the gang leader used the victim’s phone, Samsung Galaxy-Tab 7 that was taken from him asking James Gun to report at the State CID State Headquarters and bail one of his girlfriends, one Erdoo Iorliam who was detained at the state CID in connection with her friend’s criminal activities.

“In addition to that, the first suspect was also tracked to have used one of the phones stolen from the victim’s resident during the abduction for 15 days.

“The command has also in the last one month, recorded massive achievements consequent upon the directives of the Commissioner of Police CP. David A. Akinremi to descend on criminal hideouts and black spots in the state and environs, particularly to checkmate the activities of kidnappers, armed robbers, cult fraternity groups etc.

This has so far brought about the successes recorded as highlighted below:-

Arrest of Kidnappers:- On 17th of June 2018, detectives attached to Gassol Division acting on intelligence arrested one Nyali Yelwa 25, Ibrahim Bature 30, Buba Gose 30, and Yusuf Alhaji Umaru 20yrs, all resident at Gassol.

The suspects, who revealed their active participation in series of kidnapping in Gassol Mutum-biyu and neighboring villages, confessed that in the last one month, they have successfully kidnapped five people and collected colossal amounts of money as ransom in communities including Baru, Bako, Bako-Mararaban, Gassol, Karim Barau and Bemal villages.

Theft of Cows- On 18th June 2018, one Dahiru Bobbi 30, Haruna Danmalam 20, and Ali Musa 20, all resident at Sabongari, Gassol LGA were arrested by Police detectives attached to Gassol Division.

The suspects who stole three (3) Cows belonging to Mohammadu Ahmadu of the same address, were arrested while attempting to dispose of the Cows.

 

Investigation is currently in progress and. Suspects would be charged to court after investigation.

On 17/06/2018 acting on intelligence, men of the Nigeria Police attached to Gassol Division raided criminal hideouts in Sabongida, Gassol LGA and arrested the following:- Douglas Kame 24yrs, Jacob Ukend 28yrs, Thomas Paul 24yrs, Angela Thomas 23yrs, Michael Tile 25yrs, all resident at Sabongida.

The suspects whose activities were monitored by Police detectives before they were picked up are believed to be members of a gang responsible for various criminal activities in Sabongida and environs.

One locally made revolver pistol was recovered from them. Meanwhile, investigation is in progress and suspects would be arraigned to court after investigation.

 

On 18th June 2018, a distress call was received by the Police detectives attached to Jalingo Division about lawless youths sighted beside emir’s Palace quarters engaging themselves in physical combat.

 

The swift response of Police patrol team led to the arrest of Usman Babangida of Sabon-gari 12yrs old, Yakubu Abdullahi of Awoniyi quarters 23yrs old, Justina Joseph of Sabongari 16yrs old, Nurudeen Mohammed of NTA 18yrs old, and Dayabbu Iliya 20yrs old of Modibbo Laila road.

 

Investigation revealed that the suspects are members of separate cult groups who came from different locations on rampage mission.

 

The suspects who attacked another with machetes and knives themselves sustained various degrees of injuries.

 

Meanwhile, the suspects are been investigated for criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance and been in possession of dangerous weapons.

 

Arrest of Suspects:- Sequel to the killing of one Kabiru Yahaya of Anguwan Fulani ward on 3rd June 2018 by unknown person/persons, Police detectives attached to Jalingo Division arrested the following 5 suspects-Abdulmajid Hassan 21yrs old, Abdulsalam Aliyu 21yrs old, Samuel James 23yrs old, Ibrahim Yakubu, 23yrs old and Abas Isa 19yrs old all of Anguwan Fakini Jalingo.

 

The suspects, who are members of a cult group known as “Mavis record base”, numbering about 20, criminally conspired and beat up the said deceased stabbing him with knife where he died on the spot. Investigation is in progress and suspects would be charge to court when investigation is completed.

On 21st June 2018, Patrol team attached to Zing Division while on stop and search duty, intercepted one Hussaini Bature in possession of 42 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and type 06 rifle magazine which is believed is been used by the suspect for mischievous activities.

 

Meanwhile investigation in progress. Suspect would be charged to court when investigation is completed.

 

On 17th June 2018 men of the Nigeria Police attached to Donga Division while on patrol intercepted one Friday Ulum of Kadarko village and Timothy Hanya of Shawusu Village in possession of G3 rifle with total rounds of eleven (11) live ammunition.

 

The suspects who cannot give satisfactory account of themselves are believed are members of the criminal gangs responsible for various heinous crimes perpetrated in Donga and other parts of the Local Government. Investigation in progress. Suspects would be arraigning to court when investigation is completed.

 

Arrest of Rapist:- On 16/06/2018, detectives attached to the Command arrested one Nozal Musa 21yrs old of Magami ward who criminally conspired and drugged one Mercy Usman 16yrs old without her consent and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

Investigation is still in progress and suspect would be arraigned court after investigation is concluded.

 

Arrest of Kidnappers:- On 20/6/2018, detectives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Bali Division arrested one Abubakar Alhaji Hussaini who is a member of criminal syndicate terrorizing Bali and environs.

 

The suspect who voluntarily confessed is among the kidnapping gang who in the month of December 2017 conspired with one Dada and three others now at large, went to the house of one Faith Joshua and kidnapped her until a ransom was paid before she was released.

 

Meanwhile, effort has been intensified to apprehend the other fleeing members of the gang.

 

Death of 3 Kidnappers:- detectives of the Nigeria Police attached to Bali Division has on 13/6/2018 received an intelligence report of armed men suspected to be kidnappers were seen at a location in Baba Juli village Bali LGA.

 

The intelligence team swiftly moved into the area, on sighting the Police, the hoodlums engaged them in a shootout which lasted for an hour.

 

Due to the superior fire power of the Police operatives, three (3) of the kidnappers were shot down, while others escaped with bullets wounds. One AK47 rifle, one single barrel gun, five rounds of 7.62 live ammunition, two expended cartridges, one cutlass, one face Mask and a head tie were recovered from them.

 

Effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.

 

Arrest of Suspect and Recovery of Stolen Items: In continuation of our constant raids on criminal hide outs as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, the operatives of the Command attached to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) had on the 06/6/2018 raided criminal hideouts and arrested the following suspects:-

 

Shansu Adamu 22yrs old, Kabiru Shehu 19yrs old, Usmailu Bello 17yrs old, and Ibrahim Suleiman 18yrs old

 

The suspects who were responsible for several house breaking and theft were picked up at road block area while attempting to dispose of some of the items stolen.

 

Some of the recovered items include six (6) flat screen plasma TV (2) one Toshiba TV (3) Three (3) DVD’s (4) one mini Laptop (5) one set of whopper radio (6) Two rechargeable fans (7) one Akira iron (8) one Tea flask (9) three (3) air conditioners (10) one blanket and sown wrappers. Suspects have been charged to court.

 

The Command is using this medium to inform the general public particularly those whose items have been stolen or houses burgled at report to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) with means of identification to enable them identify and collect their property.

 

The Commissioner of Police used the occasion to re-assure the general public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring safety of lives and property in the State and urged the good people of Taraba State to cooperate with the Police by providing useful information that would lead to tackling of criminal activities in the State.
