Taraba Police Kill 2nd in Command to Armed Robbery/Kidnapping Militia Leader Terwase Akwaza (Ghana) in Shootout.

The Commissioner of Police, Taraba State, CP Akinremi confirmed on Sunday that crack operatives of the Command in the early hours of the day engaged a band of armed robbers who were operating along the Takum/Katsina- Ala road between Benue and Taraba States and robbing motorists of their belongings at gun point.

During the ensuing shootout with the dare-devil armed robbers, leader of the robbers and the second in command to wanted criminal militia leader, Terwase Akwaza aka ‘Ghana’, one Yamaduweh was shot dead while other members of the gang fled the scene with gunshot injuries.

A statement from the office of the Commissioner of Police giving further details said, “On Sunday 22nd October at about 6.30am, operatives of the command acting on a tip off, engaged one Yamaduweh male, which is the 2nd in command to the militia gang leader Akwaza aka Ghana while operating along Takum-Katsina Allah road.

“The said Yamaduweh was shot dead in the ensuing shootout, while other members of the gang escaped with gunshot injuries.

“One G3 rifle with 10 rounds of ammunition and a band of criminal charms were recovered were recovered from the dead criminal.

“The command is intensifying efforts at apprehending the fleeing members of the gang.

“Members of the public are enjoined to be on the lookout for persons with gunshot wounds and report to the nearest police station.”
