Troops of 7 Brigade, Sector 3 of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) fighting to clear Boko Haram terrorists from the Lake Chad Fringes, have encountered several of the terrorists in a shootout at Arege, Borno State, killing 15 of them.
A statement by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu said aside the 15 neutralized during the encounter, many others fled into the bush with gunshot wounds.

“Efforts are being intensified by the troops to arrest the fleeing members of the Boko Haram suspects” Chukwu said.
He listed items recovered to include, “one Anti-Aircraft Gun, 5 AK 47 rifles and one Light Machine Gun.
“Unfortunately, one soldier was injured and is currently receiving attention at the military medical facility” he said.
The Director advised members of the general public to report any suspicious activities to the law enforcement agents for prompt action.”
