The Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE) Operation Hadin KaiĀ Major General Ibrahim Ali has on Tuesday 21 February, 2023, lauded the media’s objective posture and patriotic reportage in the fight against terrorism in the North East region of Nigeria.
Maj Gen Ali gave the commendation when he hosted members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Members of the Correspondents Chapel, Borno State Council to an interactive session at the Theatre Headquarters in Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maiduguri.
Describing the media as critical stakeholders in the ongoing Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Operations, the Theater Commander also commended them for their patriotic reportage, neutrality and efforts in putting national interest ahead of personal or organisational interest.
He further sought for enhanced military-media synergy and cooperation.
Speaking at the event, the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Dauda Iliya assured the Theatre Commander of their continuous support and cooperation within the media domain.
Furthermore, the members of the press stated that the terrorists propaganda no longer hold waters as it does not make way into the media.
‘Alongside with other stakeholders, we will continue to work with the military to ensure that absolutely peace and normalcy return to the NE’, they added.
In attendance was the Deputy Theatre Commander, Maj Gen KA Isoni; Chief of Staff, Brig Gen A Idris; Theatre Logistics Component Commander, Brig EJ Ikomi; Theatre Intelligence Coordinator, Brig Gen OM Azuikpe; and Principal Staff Officers of Headquarters Theatre Command OPHK.
