Vandalization of Expensive NITEL Cables: Mushin Area Command Launch Manhunt for 6 Police Officers; Arrest 5 Suspects.

Operatives of the Area Command Mushin, in Lagos have launched a manhunt for six (6) officers who provided back up for criminal vandals who attempted to steal expensive NITEL Cables worth several millions of naira at Fatai Atere Street.

Area Commander Mushin, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Olasoji Olabayo while confirming the manhunt, disclosed that four (4) of the suspected vandals have been arrested while perpetuating the criminal act adding that the six policemen escaped.

The Area Commander said, “Following actionable intelligence, men of the Area Command were swiftly mobilized to the scene of crime and they intercepted a heavy duty truck/crane on the Thursday 11th January 2018 at about 2.30am while vandalizing NITEL Cables.

“About six (6) Policemen provided back up in the commission of the crime.

“Four (4) suspects were arrested at the scene of the crime while the 6 policemen escaped.

“At about 6pm of the same date, January 11 2018, the driver of the impounded truck who abandoned the heavy duty vehicle and escaped with the policemen was arrested.

While noting that the manhunt for the 6 police accomplices will continue, ACP Olasoji said the case and those arrested will soon be transferred to Federal SARS.

 Already, men of the FSARS have visited the scene of crime and removed the vandalized cables (Exhibits) while the truck is still lying at the Police Station.

The suspects arrested are David Orako, Musa Ibrahim, Mohammed Rabiu, Sherif Usman and the driver, Musiliu Iyanda.
