War on Criminality: Delta Police Arrest Kidnapping/Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover 5 Stolen Vehicles, Locally made gun and Cartridge.

Sequel to proactive crime fighting strategies, operatives of the Delta State Police Command on Tuesday and Wednesday intercepted several armed robbery and kidnap gangs and in the process, arrested several gang members while recovering 5 stolen vehicles snatched at gunpoint from victims.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zanna who made the disclosures said, “On Tuesday 17th October 2017, at about 2pm, one George Uche Nwagbujuo of SDA UNIPORT Junction, Chuba, Port Harcourt reported that a Toyota Camry stolen from Port Harcourt, Rivers State sometime last year was seen displayed for sale along Okpanam road, Asaba.

“Operatives of SAKCCS swung into action and recovered the said vehicle with Reg. ASB 423 FC from one Harry Kasiri 35Yyrs of No 45 Airport Road Asaba”.

The Police said investigation is still ongoing on the matter.

Regarding the arrest of the kidnapping suspects, the Police said, “Based on information at SAKCCS disposal, the police swooped on a syndicate who specializes in kidnapping and robbing victims of their vehicles within Asaba and its environs.

It said, On Tuesday 17 October 2017, at about 6.45pm, operatives of SAKCCS traced the gang to Agbor and arrested one Azuka Anazie aged 62yrs of Akumazi and Onyemaechi Okonicha aged 52yrs of Agbor and recovered three vehicles from them.

“The vehicles recovered are two Toyota Camry cars with reg. no LFA 262 TN AND JJJ491BF respectively and one Nissan Primera reg. no GY 90 KJA X suspected to belong to victims of kidnapping”.

In a similar vein, the Police on Wednesday arrested an armed robber and recovered the vehicle he snatched at gunpoint saying, “At about 11am, while Dragon Patrol Team 13 and 14 led by ASP Udomah Dennis were on patrol along Warri/Sapele road, at Ikwenu Junction, Sapele, they intercepted one Highlander Jeep, ash in colour with reg. no. Lagos EKY 994 DM, and Chassis no. JTEHF21A630139232, Engine no. IMZ1564785.

It was driven by one Edmond Dossou aged 30yrs of no 6 Uti Street, off PTI Road Effurun. When intercepted, the driver jumped out of the vehicle to escape and was chased and arrested.

Consequently, the Highlander Jeep was searched and vehicle documents recovered. A call was placed on phone number seen in the proof of ownership documents. The phone call was answered by owner named Babayomi Adekumbi of no 31 hospital road, Ekpan and said the vehicle was snatched from her at gunpoint same day Wednesday by two armed men along hospital road, Ekpan and she reported at Ekpan Police Station.

The suspect and recovered vehicle have been taken to Ekpan division and handed over for consolidation of investigation.

Furthermore, men of SARS Delta Police Command arrested armed robbery suspects, recovered a locally made gun and cartridge at Ughelli on Wednesday October 18, 2017 when operatives on stop and search duties flagged down a mini bus with reg. no AS 65 UGH  at about 12.40pm.

Upon search of the passengers, one Okeh Asiegho aged 27 yrs of no. 25 Gbiagolo street, Bomade and one Jeffrey John aged 25yrs of no. 18 Enowoh street, Ewu community, Ughelli were arrested aith a cut to size locally made gun loaded with a cartridge.

The Police said investigation is still ongoing to ascertain other accomplices.
