As part of proactive measures to check kidnapping and cultism in Delta state, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zanna has put machinery in place for the establishment of Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps in each of the 40 Police Divisions and 3 Area Commands to work in synergy with the State Command Anti-Cult unit to fight the menace in the State
Making highlights of a meeting between the Commissioner of Police with DPOS/Area commanders and heads of departments held on Tuesday known in a statement, the CP said, “Delta Police Command is to establish anti-cult volunteer corps in each of the 40 Divisions and 3 area commands to work in synergy with State command anti- cult unit to fight cultism in Delta state.

Delta Police Command is to reactivate supernumerary police units in each division and area command to help in policing.
“It is to be voluntary and be made up of credible Indigenes who must have other meaningful means of livelihood.
Screening is to commence soon in liaison with local Governments chairmen and traditional rulers.
“The process of centralized vigilante groups in the state is ongoing to streamline their activities in line with extant rules and checking proliferation of several groups .
Also, “Delta State command is to establish a committee in each local Government area made up of Indigenes/sedentary herdsmen/Advisers to government
“These committees are to monitor and check excesses of herdsmen to be backed by a special police response team based at area command level currently on training.”
