War on Kidnapping/Armed Robbery: Taraba Police Command Bust 4 Gangs; Arrest 12 Suspects, Recover arms & Monies paid as Ransom.

The Taraba State Police Command, in its determination to rid criminality especially kidnapping, armed robbery and cattle rustling in the state, has smashed four kidnapping gangs and arrested ten (10) suspects and recovered various sums of money paid as part-ransom

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP David Akinremi while making the disclosure, said, “To this end the Command in the last one month has embarked on massive raids, intelligence gathering and all forms of security measures aimed at achieving sustainable peace in Taraba State.

“These measures have brought about remarkable achievements some of which are highlighted as follows:

Arrest of 4 Kidnapping Gangs.

On the 23rd February 2018, men of the anti-kidnapping team of the command arrested one Jibrin Buba, Suleiman Ahmadu, Haruna Adbullahi, and Usman Mohammed all residents at Ardo Kola LGA.

The suspects earlier called and threatened Abdullahi Ahmadu of Zangon kombi ward Ardo-Kola LGA on GSM to drop the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000) at a particular location and failure to do so that he will be kidnapped.

Based on the report, detectives attached to Anti-Kidnapping Squad through actionable intelligence arrested the above suspects who confessed to the crime and further disclosed their involvement in various kidnapping activities in the state and subsequent collection of colossal amount of money from their victims as ransom.

 The sum of seventy thousand naira (N70, 000) was recovered from the suspects being part of the 500, 000 naira ransom collected from the victim.

“In a similar manner a case of threat of kidnapping was also recorded on the 9th March 2018 in which one Ali Usman and Babaji Mohammed both resident at Tella, in Gassol Local Government area conspired and threatened to kidnap one Alhaji Garba Mohammed of Tella town.

The suspects severally called the complainant and demanded for money to be given to them or else he be kidnapped.

Based on persistent pressure and frequent threats mounted on the complainant by the suspects, the victim released the sum of three hundred thousand naira to them as ransom.

However, men of the Anti-Kidnapping team acting on reliable intelligence mounted surveillance on the suspects while on their way to pick the ransom and were arrested by our operatives.

Investigation in progress suspects will be arraigned in court.

“Another criminal kidnapping gang was also busted by operatives of the command attached to Sunkani Division.

They are one Hassan Adamu and Ibrahim with eight others now at large all of Mayo-Dasa ward.

The suspects on 1st March 2018 armed with dangerous weapons, stormed the residence of the Fila Hussaini at Sunkani town and at gun point kidnapped one Sunday Hussaini to unknown destination.

Subsequently a ransom was paid before the victim was released.

Determined to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book, the police swiftly swung into action and arrested the above mentioned suspects.

A locally made revolver pistol was recovered in their possession.

Furthermore, Fila Hussani identified Hassan Adamu as a member of the gang that attacked him and kidnapped the said Sunday Hussaini.

Investigation is in progress to get others at large and arraign them to court.

In another development, operatives of the State Intelligence Bureau Taraba State Command also on 10th March 2018 raided a criminal hide out in Gassol and arrested one Khalidu Bello who on the said date called one Emeka Okoronko of Magami ward and threatened him to pay him the sum of two million naira within 48hrs otherwise he will be kidnaped.

While the threat was on, investigation team embarked on intensive intelligence which led to the arrest of the suspect.

Investigation is ongoing while suspect would soon be charged to court.

 Arrest of Car Thief Using Master Keys.

On the 14th February 2018 the operative of the State Intelligence Bureau Taraba State Command arrested one Nazibi Dayabu who specialized in using master keys to open into individual vehicles and make away with valuable items.

The suspect who on the said date was found in possession of a bunch of keys went to the specialist Hospital and used one of the keys to open a vehicle belonging to one Ibrahim Jude and made away with a Laptop and other valuables.

The suspect revealed to the investigation team that he is responsible for various missing items in different vehicles in the state.

Investigation in progress suspect will soon be charged to court.
