War on Terror: 707 Special Forces Brigade Commander Charges Troops against disappointing Army after Training; as BMATT Ends Training of New Set of Special Forces.

In furtherance of the war to rid the nation of terrorism, the 707 Special Forces Brigade Commander, Brigadier General CA Apere has tasked young troops of 75 Regular Recruits Intake who recently completed a 4 week pre Special Forces Operators’ training not to disappoint the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) who has reposed high level of confidence in them.

General Apere made this known during the young soldiers’ graduation ceremony held at the Brigade’s Training Area, Joe Akaahan Barracks, Makurdi.

The Special Forces Commander said the COAS provided all logistic requirements for the training because he believed in the outcome of the training and “your ability to achieve the impossible when the clarion calls”, he added.

 He further said, the only way they could achieve this was to remain resolute, discipline, and fit to be able to live up to the COAS’s expectation.

He congratulated the young soldiers for their good performances and discipline during the course.

He further advised them to keep up their good behavior during the training in their various units.

He also commended the Training Officer, Captain Ewelobi, the RSM, MWO Abubakar Musa and other members of the Special Forces Mobile Training Team for their resilience, commitment and sacrifices while impacting knowledge into the soldiers.

In his opening remarks earlier, the Chief of Staff, Col BO Amakor gave the number of the young soldiers that attended the training as 202.

He said the young soldiers would be further trained on how to operate in all terrains and weather conditions such as desert, forest, mountainous, marshy, swampy and amphibious environments as according to him, they will be the nucleus of Special Forces Operators in the Nigerian Army.

The training Officer, Captain Dennis Ewelobi while giving the course appraisal also listed the areas covered during the training which he said included, introduction to Counter Terrorism Operations, attacking enemy camp, rescue operations in the building, raid missions, weapon handling, ambush and counter ambush drills.

Others include parquetting, infiltration attack, abseiling and rappelling, VIP protection, patrols, map reading, crowd dispersal, road block, waterman ship and handling of improvised explosive device.

The climax of the ceremony was the lighting of the Camp fire by the Commander.

The young soldiers, who had earlier entertained the audience with unarmed combat display, push up and seat up later danced round the camp fire; jubilating and congratulating themselves for being able to survive the rigorous training that lasted for 4 weeks.

Meanwhile, the Special Forces (SF) Training for troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade by the British Military training team came to an end at the Brigade’s Range located at Ikpayongo in Gwar Local Government Area of Benue State as troops were awarded their certificates and jubilated for a successful outing after 6 weeks of rigorous SF training.

The course which was the brain child of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TY Buratai and was facilitated by British Military Advisory Training Team began on July 3 2017 with an opening ceremony during which the Commander 707 SF Brigade, Brigadier General CA Apere charged the troops to give their best and come out to be the special soldier that the Nation would be proud of.

The soldiers who confirmed they were motivated by this; outstretched themselves through the difficulties and challenges of the training to actually become the special soldiers.

 According to Pte Obasi Moses, “I have become nightmare to all forms of security threats”.

 “The training has actually positioned me to kill one enemy with one bullet, I cannot afford to waste my bullet”, Pte Natak Emmanuel boasted.

The training’s curriculum which included, counter terrorism operations, rescue operations, raid missions, weapon handling, ambush, counter ambush drills and lots more was concluded with a Field Training Exercise and a robust range classification which lasted until each participant perfected his marksmanship skills.

The climax of the ceremony was the lighting of the camp fire by the Commander who was represented by the Chief of Staff 707 SF Brigade, Col BO Amakor.

The Chief of Staff during his remarks congratulated the trainees for a successful outing.

He also commended them for putting in their best and for being disciplined throughout the period of the training.

He charged them to always exhibit those skills learnt during the training.

The BMATT Team leader, Captain Jack also congratulated the soldiers for their successful training.

He tasked them to maintain the standard always and at everywhere they find themselves.

The granduands entertained the audience with unarmed combat display, push up, seat up and later danced round the camp fire; jubilating and congratulating themselves for being able to survive the rigorous training.

In another development, 707 Special Forces Brigade recently joined other troops of the Nigerian Army during its monthly route march popularly called, breakfast with the COAS.

 The exercise which is the maiden edition in the brigade kicked off at about 6 am from 72 Special Forces Battalion Parade Ground Joe Akaahan Barracks, Makurdi.

 The troops which comprise of jumpers, trackers, amphibious, counter terrorists and corps members trekked and jogged through the streets of Makurdi singing morale boosting songs.

The high point of the exercise was when the troops of 707 Special Forces and the troops of Nigerian Army School of Military Engineering who were undergoing the same exercise had a contact.

The high morale displayed by troops of both units robbed off on the locals as some on-lookers march- time and join the troops in singing morale songs in front of their respective homes.

The residents’ reaction showed they are confident and reassured that their Army is ready and could protect them at any point in time.

Addressing the troops at the end of the exercise on behalf of the Commander 707 Special Forces Brigade, Brig Gen CA Apeere, the Chief of Staff, Col BO Amakor who earlier charged troops to be discipline before taking off; further congratulated them on the success of the maiden edition of the route march in the Brigade.

He conveyed the commendation of the commander on their performances and discipline during the exercise.

He also charged them to be more discipline and advised them to continue to keep peace at their private leisure time.

He reminded them that to achieve special operational successes, “keeping fit cannot be downplayed”, he concluded
