War on Terror: Air Marshal Abubakar Hails US Support in Insurgency Fight.

Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has said that the decimation of Boko Haram by the military was enhanced by the support of the United States of America in the battle against terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria.

Abubakar made the disclosure when outgoing US Defence Attaché in Nigeria, Colonel Patrick Doyle paid him a farewell visit in Abuja.

The CAS particularly commended the outgoing DA for his dedication to duty and his apparent efforts to boost the NAF and US relationship, urging him to continue in the same vein in his future engagements.

A statement by Air Commodore Olatokumbo Adesanya, Director NAF Public Relations and Information quoted Air Marshal Abubakar maintaining that beyond military campaigns, the NAF would continue to render humanitarian support to IDPs.

The Air Chief said he is further encouraged by the case of a 5-year old malnourished child, who had been given up for dead in northeastern Nigeria but was later admitted and nourished at the NAF Reference Hospital Bauchi.

He then proudly displayed the unbelievable picture of the now fully recovered child.

He added that with the continuous support of the US Government, the NAF would be better positioned to do much more towards fighting the common enemy of terrorism.

In his farewell speech, Colonel Doyle thanked the CAS for the support he enjoyed from the NAF during his tour of duty.

He also acknowledged the enormous impact made by the NAF in the fight against insurgency and other forms of criminalities in Nigeria, especially in the past 2 years.

He equally expressed his amazement at the tremendous passion the CAS had demonstrated for the welfare of his personnel, noting that he was always in awe whenever he visited NAF Bases across the country and saw the ever-increasing level of infrastructural development.

Furthermore, outgoing US DA commended the efforts of the CAS in substantially increasing the number of serviceable NAF platforms, with particular reference to the Alpha Jet aircraft.

He said there was a great improvement from what he met when he resumed duties in Nigeria over 2 years ago adding that he was leaving Nigeria with the impression that he had met a great leader in Air Marshal Abubakar.
