Authorities of the Military Pensions Board in Abuja have disclosed that the board did not at any time put out any information inviting retired soldiers and ex-military officers to prepare for or embark on any verification exercise for payment of pensions.
The MPB descried the information currently being circulated as the handiwork of mischief makers aimed at causing unnecessary friction between military pensioners and the board noting that at the appropriate time, when there is need for verification, it will be announced by the pension’s board.

Making the clarification in Abuja on Tuesday, Squadron Leader Ikenna Ezendu, Public Relations Officer, MPB said, “The attention of Military Pension Board (MPB) has been drawn to numerous false online information circulating among its pensioners as regards to Military Pension Verification Exercise.
“The unauthorized information is being circulated by some unscrupulous people to mislead pensioners.
“MPB hereby disassociate itself from such deceptive online information.
“The Board wishes to state categorically that it has no plans for now to conduct any verification exercise anywhere in the country.
Continuing Ezendu said, “The Board in collaboration with Ministry of Defence will notify its esteemed pensioners and stakeholders when it concludes arrangement to conduct any verification exercise.
“Consequently, Military Pensioners and other stakeholders are advised to disregard any fake information circulating on the social media and other communication channels.”
