Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has declared that the government and people of the state will not be party to the Police probe panel, adding that the Police cannot kill Rivers people in cold blood and turn around to investigate same.
Describing the probe panel as ‘phoney’, the governor said that the probe on the re-run elections has a predetermined goal, which is to indict Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, members and commence their politically motivated prosecution.
He spoke, yesterday, at the victory thanksgiving mass of the PDP at Our Lady Chaplaincy of the Catholic Institute of West Africa, Port Harcourt, for successful rerun/supplementary elections.
His words, “We are not a party to their so-called panel. We have passed that stage and we cannot fall into the trap of a panel of inquiry.
“After killing our people, you want us to assist you unravel what? It is the police that killed our people.”
The governor wondered why the Police would claim that it wants to investigate issues surrounding the Rivers rerun elections, when it was one of the interested parties involved in the attempt to subvert the will of the people.
He pointed out that it was the Police High Command that refused to prosecute the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftains caught on camera printing fake result sheets ahead of the elections.
He added that petitions to the Police High Command on the negative activities of ACP Steven Hasso and the Commander of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, an APC chieftain, were disregarded.
He noted that even when Akin Fakorede, was recorded on video beating up electoral officers at the Rivers East Senatorial district collation Centre, the police swept it under the carpet.
“If it was a country that believed in its image, so many people would have lost their jobs. They cannot ask themselves why 28,000 policemen, yet to be ascertained number of soldiers, Police dogs and horses, gunboats and helicopters could not police ordinary legislative elections.
“It is because the police were the ones committing the fraud, violence and election materials snatching. We are accusing the police of mass murder and they turn around to set up a panel of inquiry.

“After killing our people, you fraudulently set a panel of inquiry. Up till now, they don’t know that we are far ahead. This panel is a mere booby trap to indict PDP members. If they cared about lives, they wouldn’t do what they did” Wike said.
The governor earlier dismissed the alleged recorded audio video as a ploy by the APC to divert attention from the killings committed in the state in the last election by security operatives deployed to the state by the APC-led Federal Government.
The governor while reacting to a protest march by APC members in Port Harcourt said that the audio was a creation of the APC.
He said that the Federal Government ought to investigate clear cases of abuse recorded on camera against a senior officer of SARS in the state.
Meantime, hundreds of members of All Progressives Congress, APC, marched through major streets in Port Harcourt, on Saturday calling on the Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to investigate the alleged audio recorded voice of Governor Nyesom Wike.
The peaceful protest moved to the Rivers State Police Command on Moscow Road and the state headquarters of the INEC on Aba Road, where leaders of the protest urged the institutions to dig into the issue.
Deputy governorship candidate of the APC in the last governorship election, Mr. Asita Asita, who spoke for the protesters, said they were also kicking against release of result for Rivers East Senatorial district by the electoral body when some elections had not been conducted in some areas.
“We have formerly presented a petition to the Chairman of INEC. We have also presented the petition to the Inspector General of Police through the Commissioner of Police in the state.
“We are protesting the conduct of the election especially in the Rivers East senatorial district, where election results were yet to collate in about four local government areas when the INEC went ahead to declare the results in favour of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and present certificates.
“We have come to lay a formal complaint to the INEC, now we had hoped that Wike will concentrate on the governance of the state. We have allowed him to govern, but he is distracting himself in the governance of the state. We are here therefore, to formally notify him that we are now ready to contend with him.”
