Yuletide Security: NSCDC Deploys 4, 000 Officers in FCT.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), said it has deployed 4,000 officers to curb criminal activities during the yuletide.

The corps commandant, Patrick Ukpan who made this known said the action had become necessary as there is usually an increase in criminal activities towards the end of the year.

While urging residents to be vigilant, Ukpan said they should always report any suspected criminal activities to law enforcement agents.

He said the deployed 4,000 operatives were from various departments and units and have been sent to several areas in the territory to strategically curb criminal activities during the period.

He also urged clergymen and commuters to be security conscious while going about their activities throughout the festive season.

“Commuters should be very observant, because of menace of one-chance; if you observed that the passengers that are already in the vehicle are exhibiting suspicious behaviours, it is better you don’t board such vehicle,” he said.

He said residents should not display wealth unnecessarily as it could attract criminally minded individuals.

He reiterated the ban on the use of fireworks, warning that anybody caught using fireworks will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

“We had called on the residents of FCT especially parents and guardians to speak to their children and wards- that they shouldn’t engage in acts of usage of fireworks during this period,” he said.
