Aftermath of an early morning attack by Boko Haram terrorists against troops prosecuting the war on terror in Borno state on Friday morning, 15 of the terrorists have been killed.
Military sources disclosed that the figure could be higher given the superior fire power of the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in the about three-hour exchange of gunfight in the Rann area of Borno State.
The battle was said to have started by at about 6 am Friday and did not end until after 9 am.

The source said the battle began when fighters of the terror group launched a surprise attack on troops’ location in northern Borno, shooting sporadically.
Troops from 3 Battalion and 112 Task Force Battalion are stationed in the area.
The soldiers responded promptly, killing an unknown number of the terrorists, and wounding several others.
The battle raged for over two hours, and when the dust settled, several terrorists were found dead.
One of our sources said more than 15 of the Boko Haram fighters were killed in action.
Another said the figure was much higher, adding that many other terrorists escaped from the scene with gunshot wounds.
