Insurgency: Preparation for Police Deployment to recaptured territories begin.
The Nigerian Police has put machinery in motion towards evolving operational strategies that will lead to the restoration of police primacy and restoration of civil authority in the North – East.
Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase who stated this at a round table interaction with strategic stakeholders in the security of the affected states, noted that the forum is a veritable platform for a critical assessment of realities associated with plans to restore civil authority, re-integrate victims and commence the process of post war reconstruction drive in the affected states.
Arase noted that beyond the strides achieved in the terror theatre, it is a clear testament to the patriotism and sacrifice of the Nigerian Military and more than 6,000 officers and men of the Nigeria police who are deployed on counter insurgency operation side by side the military in the North East.
The IGP disclosed that in the process of fighting the Boko Haram terrorists, thousands of police officers and those of other security agencies as well as non-combatants have paid the supreme price
He said that with the increasing successes of the Military and other security agencies in the North East, the time has come for the police to play its lead role in restoring civil authority in the war thorn areas.
Arase added that the federal government in combating the menace of terrorism in the country have yielded tremendous successes of late, pointing out that this feat was achieved through the encouragement and support of the President Muhamadu Buhari and the renewed commitment of the international community
He regretted that north east has for more than 10 years suffered great damage in every sector due to activities of Boko Haram terrorist group
In his remarks the commandant National Defence College Rear Admiral S.I. Alade, said that the college is fully committed to quick return of peace and normalcy to the North East and is ready to collaborate with sister security agencies, NGOs and other development partners on forging the way forward to bring about a lasting peace in that region, Nigeria and indeed Africa.

He noted that the very laudable efforts to drive the process of stabilization by the police and ministry of interior in particular are commendable.
