Indications emerged on Tuesday that heavily armed bandits/terrorists have killed 11 soldiers and inflicted severe injuries on 19 soldiers when the soldiers were ambushed at the Polo Wire village area of Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state
Sources said the bandits in large numbers, invaded a military base (FOB) located at Polo Wire and engaged the troops in a fierce battle that lasted some hours resulting in the soldiers being killed.
Some of the bandits were also neutralized but the sheer number of the terrorists made it more difficult gor the troops.
Sources said the bandits who came on motorbikes surrounded the military basewere from every angle and opened fire on the soldiers with such sophisticated weaponry including Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) and SMGs.
“Aside from killing the 11 soldiers and injuring 19 others, they burnt down 3Â Armoured Personel Carriers (APC) and several weapons like AK 47 rifles belong to the soldiers”, the source said.
Several attempts through phone calls to get the spokesmen of the military to respond to the development proved abortive as non picked their phone calls.
