Boko Haram: 5 Killed as troops foil invasion of Borno Community; clear bandits, rustlers in Zamfara.
Special Forces of Nigerian Nigerian military prosecuting the war on terror, on Monday foiled an attempt by Boko Haram terrorists’ to invade Yauri community in Borno state and establish a base after they had been dislodged from many border communities by Army and Nigerian Air force bombardment.
A statement by Col Sani Usman in early hours of Tuesday said, “On Monday 1st August 2016, at about 8.00pm, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole accompanied by Civilian JTF successfully thwarted an attempt by Boko Haram terrorists on Yauri Community at the outskirts of Maiduguri city, Borno State.
“In the encounter, the troops killed 5 of the attackers and recovered 2 AK-47 rifles, 1 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), one 60mm Mortar Tube, 1 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle, 2 Dane Guns, 2 AK-47 rifle magazines, 2 FN rifle magazines, 131 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, 31 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunitions, a 60mm Bomb and the sum of N31, 275.00 from the terrorists.

In another development, “Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army involved in anti-cattle rustling and anti-banditry operations in Zamfara State on Monday 1st August 2016 despite poor weather and rugged terrain, carried out clearance operations on suspected armed bandits hideouts in some forests within Zamfara State.
“The troops carried out raids at Batara and Ajah forests in Birnin Magaji and Gusau Local Government Areas, Zamfara State.
“Although the armed bandits fled the camps, the troops destroyed the camps, recovered 3 motorcycles and 2 mobile telephone handsets.
“They further raided Rimawa forest in Gusau Local Government Area where they arrested 2 wanted armed bandits, Aliyu Abubakar and Umar Ibrahim.
“In Bini village forest, Maru Local Government Area, the troops also arrested a notorious and wanted armed bandit’s collaborator, Umar Dan Bilbili.”
