Boko Haram: Army will not abandon its wounded – Buratai.

Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai said at the weekend that the Nigeria Army has not abandoned any wounded soldier, saying the Service is doing everything possible to see to the needs of the wounded soldiers.

The army boss was reacting to complaints by some soldiers currently receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Hospital, Kaduna during the commissioning of the 1 Division Nursery and Primary school at Ribadu Cantonment in Kaduna.

He said, “The issue of the soldier in 44 is just isolation, it is a case of an individual; it is a general issue and we have been treating them on individuals cases. Such issues are normal administrative issues that we have been handling.

“We have more serious issues than to bother ourselves on an individual who we have been taking care of, nobody is abandoned and whoever says he is abandoned, is not being honest.”

‎Buratai, who noted that there is no going back on the rescue mission irrespective of any call by Nigerians to dialogue with the rampaging insurgents in the North East of the country added that over 20,000 persons abducted by the Boko Haram insurgency have been rescued by the military.

He said the move by Federal arm of government to negotiate with the insurgents will not stop the military’s rescue operations and appealed to anybody with useful information that could boost the rescue operations to volunteer such information to the military.

He added, “We have so far rescued over 20,000 abducted persons, and we are still rescuing more and we will continue to do that, ‎we will continue to carry out our rescue operations, this rescue is ongoing, as far as the Army, and indeed the military is concerned, we will continue to play our own part.

“The negotiation is left for appropriate arm of government, but we are looking for any information to rescue anybody that is being held hostage,” he said.
