The helicopter gunship reportedly searched and engaged the insurgents, which led to them abandoning the victim’s and gun trucks.
Sources said the insurgents blocked the highway, thus preventing motorists from gaining access to Borno State and also burnt two petroleum product tankers and two civilian vehicles before retreating from the location with their victim’s.

The terrorists were said to have attacked travelers through multiple flanks with an unconfirmed number of Boko Haram /ISWAP foot soldiers on Gun Trucks.
They were, however, subdued by the overwhelming firepower of the troops.
After a hot pursuit, and guidance from the Nigerian Air Force several of the fleeing terrorists were neutralized.
Arms and ammunitions including various assorted drugs and enhancers were recovered, the 5 victims abducted by the terrorists were also rescued.

Earlier, the insurgents staged an ambush against commuters on the road where they burnt down two trailers and another Petrol Tanker.
