Insecurity: FG urges Security Agencies to crush all Forms of Insurrection in the country.

As the war on terror enters its final clearing stages and new forms of agitation bothering on insurrection manifests, the Federal Government has ordered security agencies to crush any form of threat to the nation’s unity.

Defence Minister, Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali who made the disclosure while receiving the report of the inter-ministerial committee on planned handover of areas liberated from by the military from Boko Haram, noted that government remained totally unchanged in its commitment of eradicating insurgency and criminality in the North East and the nation in general.

“Let me also use this opportunity to warn any person, or group of individuals or organizations under whatever cover, who wish to test the collective will of this administration to know that we will not fold our arms and allow them destroy our nation”, he said.

The minister continued, “All relevant security agencies of the federal republic of Nigeria have been mobilized and directed to swing into action to identify and crush any possible threat to our national security”.

While commending members of the inter-ministerial committee their sacrifice in visiting the troubled spots, the minister said the Buhari administration is ready to partner with any nation that is willing to cooperate with ‘us’ in the fight against insurgency and terrorism in the country and the sub-region.

Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, Major General Azakakhu Umaru (rtd) earlier disclosed that his committee visited Yobe, Boro and Adamawa states during the assignment noting that the 2 weeks’ time frame initially giving them was inadequate hence it was extended to 6 weeks.

Noting that the terms of reference given the committee was covered, General Umaru said we interacted through town hall meetings with all stakeholders, the Theater Commander, the governments etc.

“The main report has to do with the challengesof the various security agencies that will take over from the military. In it, we made recommendations for Immediate term, Short term and Long term actions as well as implementation strategies”, Umaru said.

Meanwhile, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Garba Dambatta on Thursday charged the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC) to come up with effective resettlement strategies that will assist the government in managing the post-crisis period in the north east.  

Professor Dambatta stated this when the Management of the Centre led by its Executive Secretary, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas (Rtd), paid him a courtesy visit in his office. 

According to him, apart from the debilitating condition which the hapless people who are caught up in the crisis in various parts of the north east are currently facing, a more formidable challenge will even come in managing the post-crisis resettlement and reintegration of the people in the affected areas.

 “I am interested in the kind of intervention you provide and I believe that there are certain voids which organizations like yours can fill in terms of managing the different levels of crisis in our country. 

“Your Centre should be able to come up with effective resettlement strategies that will assist government in managing the post-crisis period in the north east. You certainly have a big work to do in addressing the problem of the hapless Nigerians caught up in the Boko Haram crisis in the north east and elsewhere”, he added. 

Earlier, Executive Secretary of the Centre for Crisis Communication, Air Commodore Yusuf Anas (Rtd) said they were at the Commission to brief the EVC on its activities and to also seek areas of collaboration with the NCC.
