A bomb explosion has occurred in the University of Maiduguri as suspected Suicide Bombers are believed to have sneaked into the Mosque of the University and detonated heavy explosives at a mosque near Gate 4 and 5 of the institution.
The bodies of a Professor and four others as well as 17 injured students and officials on the university have so far been taken out of the scene.
Eye-witnesses said the incident took place at about 5:35am when Muslim Ummah were performing their morning prayers.
“There were twin suicide attacks in a mosque situated close to professors quarters, north of the University of Maiduguri this morning; scores were killed including two professors, students and staff” the source said.
According to a resident of the institution who simply gave his name as Mallam Umar Ibrahim, “The two female suicide bombers entered the varsity through Gates 1 and 5. The explosives went up and hit two mosques at 5.15am and 5.35am simultaneously on Monday”.
Emergency workers have evacuated the body of a Professor and others to mortuary after Twin Bomb-Blast from suicide bombers in the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.
Rescue and security officials have cordoned the areas while triage and casualty evacuation have been concluded.
Official from National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and that of Borno State (BOSEMA) confirmed the evacuation of bodies of the Professor, a child and two bombers.
While doctors confirmed the dead of four people including the two bombers, 17 other victims who sustained injuries are being treated by medical personnel.

Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Mallam Ahmed Mohammed confirmed the suicide attacks in the University, but said, he did not have details as to situation with casualty.
Buhari condemns UNIMAID bombing
Meanwhile; President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday condemned the terrorist attack at a mosque in the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).
A professor of veterinary medicine and four others were killed by the suicide bomber. Fifteen other people were injured.
The President expressed sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the University Community, families of the victims and the government and people of Borno State.
President Buhari Said the appalling attack on a revered place of worship and Ivory Tower shows that the perpetrators have no true understanding of Islam.
He said their despicable acts of terrorism are cowardly, criminal, unjustifiable and punishable before God Almighty and the laws of the land.
The President reassured communities in Borno and others in the North eastern part of the country that his administration will continue to ensure that terrorism never triumphs over peace-loving Nigerians.
He reaffirmed the need for Nigerians to remain more vigilant even as the security agencies continue to use all means at their disposal to combat the remnants of insurgents and their sponsors.
President Buhari wished those injured in the attack a speedy and full recovery, and comforted families of the dead.
