Soldiers Kills 19 Terrorists including wanted Commander, at Chukungudu.
** KILL 3 ARMED BANDITS IN KADUNA STATE
The Nigerian Military in a joint operation involving the Army, the Air force and Civilian JTF at the weekend, overcame an ambush attack launched by Boko Haram terrorists against troops at their camp in Chukungudu, Sambisa Forest vicinity, killing 19 terrorists including one of their wanted Commanders.
During the confrontation, two soldiers sustained gunshot injuries while several sophisticated arms and ammunition were recovered from the camp.
A statement detailing the operation signed by Col Sani Usman, Acting Director, Army Public Relations said, “Following credible information on the presence of Boko Haram terrorists; their camp and other facilities at Chukungudu, a carefully planned and deliberate attack was carried out to clear the camp.
“The operation comprising troops of 22 Brigade Garrison, and 153 Task Force Battalion of 7 Division and 8 Task Force Division as well as Nigeria Air Force Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) and some Civilian JTF, was carried out on Boko Haram terrorists stronghold and camp at Chukungudu on Friday 3rd May 2016”.
“While advancing to the location, the troops encountered Boko Haram terrorists ambush positions at Muskari, Gilam and Hausasi before descending on their main objective at Chukungudu.
“During the encounter at the camp, the troops killed 19 Boko Haram Terrorists including their notorious leader in the area called Ameer Abubakar Gana.

“They also discovered and destroyed the terrorists Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) making factory, discovered and successfully detonated 4 primed IEDs.
“The troops also recovered 2 Anti-Aircraft Guns, 1 AK-47 Rifle, a Pistol, 1 Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG) Bomb, 1 AK-47 Magazine, 267 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) metal links ammunition and 23 rounds of 12.7mm belt ammunition.
“Other recovered items include a Canter truck, 1 Gun truck, 1 Land Rover vehicle and a Toyota Hilux vehicle.
“Unfortunately, 2 soldiers suffered gunshot wounds as a result of enemy action.
“However, it is gratifying to state that both of them are very stable and responding to treatment at the Field Ambulance.”
Meanwhile, troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army involved in Operation Sharan Daji, working with other security agencies, in the early hours of Saturday, ambushed and killed 3 suspected armed bandits who wreaked havoc on some communities in Kubau Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
A statement from Army headquarters said, “During the ambush, the troops were able to kill 3 notorious armed bandits, recovered 3 Locally Made Pistols, 1 Dane Gun, one J5 Bus with registration number KMC 33 YE KANO and a Driving License.
“Similarly, today also, the troops conducted a clearing operation around Kurmin Dande in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“During the clearance, they arrested 1 suspected cattle rustler who is undergoing interrogation.
“The troops have also intensified patrols at Madachi general area in Katsina State.
“In addition, they have been meeting with heads of the local vigilantes within the 10 Local Government Areas in the State where cattle rustling and armed banditry seems prevalent in order to synergize efforts.”
