Most wanted and dreaded Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist Commander and Governor of the Mandara Mountain District who supervised the killing of 400 men in Bama in 2014, Amir Muhamma aka ‘Ummate Ma’ has met his waterloo in a deadly factional battle between the terrorist groups.
He is number 271 in the Military’s Most Wanted Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorist’s Commander’s list published by the Nigerian Armed Forces and the Mandara Mountain Districr spreads from Adamawa, Borno and Cameroon.
Sources disclosed that Muhamma who hails from the Mandara area of Adamawa State is the terrorist’s leader who led the Boko Haram invasion of Bama town in September 2014, where hundreds of men were butchered while many were taken captive after the terroritory was declared an Islamic Caliphate.
He is also the terrorist leader who led several missions to attack military positions in Konduga, Kawuri, Banki, Bama and Madagali and coordinated several Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs) attacks, and programing of young female suicide bombers in the North East, particularly Borno and Adamawa states.
“Ummate Ma became popular as the Shadow Governor after he supervised the slaughtering of over 400 men in Bama bridge and imprisonment of about 3,000 women and killing of many men inside Bama Prison” the source said.
The Khayid, Ummate Ma and scores of his fighters were said to have been killed following a violent clash between the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), and the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, faction of Boko Haram in the North East of Borno.

“Ummate Ma also known as Muhamma who was in the position of Khayd (Governor) and his fighters were killed on June 1, when ISWAP terrorists staged ambush against a convoy of the Commander at Mandara Mountain in the axis of Gwoza Local Government Area on their way to Cameroon”.
A Counter Insurgency and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama confirmed the death of the Khayid noting that the ambush triggered two hours fierce gun battle between the terror group’s which resulted in the killings of scores of Boko Haram fighters.
The sources said “That the ISWAP terrorists that killed Ummate Ma, dispatched from the axis of Cinana Gwoshe, Barawa and Agaba villages in 7 trucks and 10 motorcycles, overpowered the Boko Haram terrorists, killing scores and seizing their weapons, Gun truck and motorcycles.
Ummate Ma, was said to have been shot on the chest and several parts of his body.
The source added that the ISWAP coordinated the attack was in response to the killing of a Senior ISWAP Commander, Abou Sadiqou Buorubouru and several other terrorists who were ambushed by the Boko Haram group of Muhamma at the fringes of Mandara Mountain.
Sources said the terrorists had earlier suspended all major attacks against the Nigerian forces to focus on it’s confrontation on its rivals, vowing to eliminate all of them.
Ummate Ma is believed to have joined the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād faction of Boko Haram in 2009, before they became known as Boko Haram and rose to become a Khayd (Governor), in the cabinet of Abubakar Shekau.
Sources disclosed that when the news of Ummate Ma’s killing broke, the entire Bama, Gwoza and Banki community and it’s surrounding township were thrown into a state of jubilation considering the way and manner Muhamma terrorised them.
“The killing of Ummate Ma marks one of the most significant blow to the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād faction of Boko Haram by the ISWAP.”
