UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guiteres Commend’s North-East Military Operation Hadin Kai; Says Mass Surrendering of BHT, sign that insurgency coming to an end

The United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guteres who was in Borno State on Tuesday 3 May 2022 to assess the region which has been plagued by the activities of Terrorist for over a decade has commended the military operations Hadin Kai in the region.

This was necessitated following the fact that the war against the terrorist has in the last one year assumed a different dimension following the massive surrender of the insurgents and members of their family.

This unprecedented act which came as a result of the tireless and determined effort of troops of Operation Hadin Kai attracted global attention and necessitated the visit of the Secretary – General who led a delegation from the world body to assess the humanitarian situation.

During the tour, the UN Chief was led to some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs ) Camps in town and along Gubio road and one of the holding facility for the repentant insurgents and thereafter paid a courtesy visit to Borno State Government House in Maiduguri.

 

During a visit to government house Maiduguri, the UN Secretary General hailed the tireless efforts and determination of the troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) in the ongoing onslaught against the Boko Haram/Islamic State West African Province (BH/ISWAP) terrorists in the North East.

He said, the high level of commitment and doggedness demonstrated by troops had led to the mass surrendering of terrorists in recent times adding that it was an indication that terrorism is coming to an end.

In his remarks at the Government house, he commended the Joint Task Force under Operation Hadin Kai for their roles in the mass surrendering of the insurgents which he viewed as a sign to ending the crisis.

 

Mr Guterres also louded the effort of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for rescuing some kidnapped victims from the terrorist enclaves.

The Theatre Commander Joint Taskforce Northeast Operation HADIN KAI Major General CG Musa was present during the visit and also join Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to bid farewell to the UN Secretary General.
